This is SO helpful and just what I needed today/this week. Thank so much, Katherine! Wise words. Love the video format too. Might not manage to make the workshop live this evening as I will probably be driving home from work but I will watch on demand!
Exactly what I needed to hear as I've also been running around seeing various people and places lately! I'm going to add another post it note to my iMac 'what does showing up for my writing look like to me?' Also enjoying the video format, sometimes it's easier to listen rather than read. Thanks loads and see you this evening :-)
Thanks Katherine. Super helpful post. I also love the video format & find it more impactful. Perhaps because it’s a break from reading words on a page & engages a different part of our brains? Looking forward to the workshop tonight x
.. and you can look away if need be, to unload shopping or fold laundry while continuing to listen! (Actually I last folded laundry in 2014 but you get my drift)
Really helpful advice thanks Katherine and I enjoyed the video format. It was relaxing to listen rather than read as I sometimes find reading nonfiction posts (especially in small print on my phone) tiring. I’m
Planning to attend the workshop later and looking forward to it.
Although I’ve only just discovered your 100 day challenge, I find, listening to your video today, that I do already count my thinking time as ‘showing up’ which is nicely assuring!
I used to be obsessed with word count, with comparing word counts with fellow writers in groups which set many goals, resulting in frequent feelings of inadequacy and underachievement.
I don’t have a work routine which is regular, be it 9-5 or similar. I work part of 7 days a week as my (unrelated to writing day-job) is seventeen paces from the door, is seasonal and weather-dependent!
But I try and listen to podcasts relevant to research when driving or walking (actually the walking happens not very often due to hip issues; so don’t come to me for fitness tips) so that when I do finally sit down to the laptop my brain cell has not moved that far off topic.
Lovely to ‘meet’ you and shall be reading more of your tips and content with my morning coffee x

No probs Fiona. Hope to see you tomorrow!
Very helpful video. Gentle curiosity, connecting with my work daily in different ways is a game changer.
Yeah, these two words really made this content stand out for me too 👍🏼

I love this gentle approach that anything that is to do with connecting can “count.” Thank you! 🙏🏻
